Spending per pupil by district
Highest spending per pupil (top 100)
Lowest spending per pupil (top 100)
Method
Spending per pupil is total expenditure divided by the enrollment reported in the F-33 School District Finance Survey for fiscal year 2020. Both values come from the same survey, so the figure can differ from a calculation using 2024-25 enrollment. Dollars are nominal: they are not adjusted for inflation or for differences in living costs between regions.
Total spending includes capital outlay and debt service, which can make one year look unusually high for a district that built a school. Higher spending is not a measure of quality. See School spending per pupil explained.
