Please note: the current BCER.org is a new, independent project. It is not run by, connected to or affiliated with the former Business Coalition for Education Reform or the National Alliance of Business.
The Business Coalition for Education Reform
From about 1997 to 2004, bcer.org was the website of the Business Coalition for Education Reform. The coalition brought together national business organisations and was managed by the National Alliance of Business. Its aim was to build business support for higher academic standards in K-12 schools.
What the coalition did
- It ran the "Making Academic Achievement Count" campaign, which encouraged employers to ask for and reward evidence of student achievement.
- It kept a directory of state business and education coalitions, groups of employers working on schools in their own states.
- It published reports, including "The Formula for Success: A Business Leader's Guide to Supporting Math and Science Achievement".
After the coalition
After the coalition's website closed, the domain later hosted an unrelated content blog around 2011 and then a parked page.
Old links
If you followed an old link to a coalition page, it now leads here or to a related page on the current site. Links to old state coalition pages go to the public schools page for that state, for example Texas.
Today the site publishes official data on US public schools and districts. Read about the current site.
