Ranking ยท 2024-25
Student-teacher ratio by district
Lowest student-teacher ratio (top 100)
Highest student-teacher ratio (top 100)
Method
The ratio is district enrollment divided by full-time-equivalent (FTE) classroom teachers, as reported for 2024-25. It is computed only where both numbers are reported. Districts under 1,000 students are excluded because a few staff changes can swing their ratio sharply.
A ratio is not the same as class size. It counts all teachers, including special education, music and other specialists. Very low ratios are common in districts with many special programs or small rural schools. Very high ratios can reflect virtual or online schools. See Student-teacher ratio explained.
