The Common Core of Data (CCD) is the US Department of Education's main database of public schools and school districts. It is collected every year by the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) from state education agencies.
Which years we use
- School and district directory, enrollment, staff and school meals: school year 2024-25.
- District finance (F-33): fiscal year 2020, the latest year available through the Urban Institute Education Data Portal.
Blanks and suppression
A blank on this site means the value is not available, not applicable, or suppressed in the source. Suppression protects student privacy when counts are small. We never fill in, estimate or impute missing values, and we hide a metric rather than show it as zero.
Derived figures
Student-teacher ratios and spending per pupil are calculated only when both inputs are reported. State and national averages use only the schools or districts that report both values.
What the CCD does not contain
The CCD has no test scores, ratings or reviews, and neither do we. For school accountability reports, see your state education agency. To find a specific school, try the NCES school search.
